Photography Posture Tips from Thomas Street Studios

Photography Posture Tips from Thomas Street Studios

Here at Thomas Street Studios we see every posture mistake in the book, although thankfully not on a daily basis. We do our best to guide the subject into the posture that will make them look best, but for some people it is very difficult to get the model look. The most important thing to remember is the direction of your body in relation to the camera. If you have an artistic eye, as many models do, you will notice from popular fashion that very seldom is a model photographed directly front on. This is because the silhouette is not accentuated in the right way to show off the garments being modelled.

Next, you need to think about the angles of every part of your body in relation to the camera. This includes your shoulders and arms. Is your hand too low? Is the angle of your upper arm too low? Getting positioning right can be very difficult, especially for beginners. A great photo is not just about looking good, its about having a great composition. The composition of a photo includes everything from the light, to the setting, to your positioning, and how the shadows fall on the side of you that isn't facing the light. If you study professional photos in big brand advertising, perhaps for perfumes, there is always some form of contrast that gives the feeling of motion, even in a still photograph.

Thomas Street Studios have a variety of professional equipment and lighting techniques to be able to produce this momentum, and our photographers will guide you in this respect but you need to know the fundamentals so that you can picture where they guiding you when it matters and time is short. The team at Thomas Street Studios have years of experience in directing people in front of the camera to get the best possible results for their modelling portfolio, or just photos of a special day. What do other people say?

Here is an email that we received a week before Christmas following a photoshoot we did at the start of the month. We'd like to thank Paul for writing to us and we're very happy he had a great day at Thomas Street Studios.

"To the TSS team!

I felt obliged to write you a quick email after having a little bit of time to think about my day. Before I booked into Thomas Street Studios I wasn't sure at all if I should get a modelling portfolio made. My friends told me I was being vain! I'm so glad I didn't listen to them and went with my gut feeling. I've always loved to be the centre of attention and I had never really considered this career path. I say career because my new portfolio has got me booked in for a full week of work in January and if I get more after that I might cut down on my day job hours! It's really been a whirlwind of a month with all the festivities and the like and I can't wait to start the new year on this new path. If I need more photos taken I'll be in touch next year. Thanks again then, all the best and happy new year!

Regards

Paul"

Thomas Street Studios: Cleanse, Tone Moisturise

Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise

If you're going to wear make up you really need to make washing it off each evening a priority. Many women after a long day haven't got the energy and just leave it on. Make up clogs the pores when left on and results in blotchy skin or blackheads when done regularly. When this happens the common temptation is to add more make up to cover the problems, creating a vicious circle in which the skin problems will get worse. Here are some tips from Thomas Street Studios.

As we said, make up blocks the pores and needs to be cleaned off. Cleansing removes it and also the sweat and pollution from the day. Remove mascara using a cotton bud dipped in cleansing lotion. Eye shadow comes off best with a cotton wool pad. Using your fingers, massage face wash around your nose and cheeks. The chin area is particularly prone to black heads so pay special attention there. Once your make up has all come off, rinse well with water, tone with a cotton pad to get rid of any dirt or soap left on and finally moisturise. Moisturiser stops the drying effects of water and locks moisture into the skin over night.

Imagine you could look like a model in every photo, not just while modelling. No doubt you will have plenty of experience in how to bring out your best features, but a woman’s work is never done in the competitive modelling business.

Present yourself to the camera at an angle that will make you appear taller and leaner. Make sure to stand up as straight as you can; great posture is important. There are countless articles on modelling posture online. Just turn your body slightly to the side, forcing one shoulder closer to the lens. Flash your best smile or most pouty lips toward the camera and you’ve been instantly slimmed.

Check Thomas Street Studios out on Facebook for loads of modelling tips and find out more from the video below.

Thomas Street Studios Teen Modelling Self-Image Advice

Thomas Street Studios Teen Modelling Self-Image Advice

Most of us are prepared to deal with the obvious physical changes of growing up. Girls expect their breasts to grow and guys expect to become more muscular. However, for teen models, their looks are their job and so being prepared for natural changes is important.

The body often goes through other changes before, during, and after puberty — and sometimes these changes can be very different from the ones we expect to happen. For example, both girls and guys may notice themselves growing in unfamiliar places, such as the butt or belly. These days, teen Modelling agencies are looking for all shapes and sizes. Thomas Street Studios can help prepare you.

Some people get a temporary layer of fat to prepare the body for a growth spurt. Others fill out permanently. Some people eat healthy foods and work out but still gain weight. Others chow down on everything in sight and still stay skinny.

Eventually it all balances out and most people adjust to how their "new" body moves and works. But it can take some getting used to. What happens to people physically during puberty can influence how they feel about their bodies and themselves for a long time to come.

When it comes to teen modelling, it is one thing to be pretty or handsome, but when it comes to modelling for teenagers, there will be a combination of different elements that a modelling agency will be looking out for - therefore, it's worth researching their criteria beforehand, to avoid putting your child into a situation that could cause them disappointment unnecessarily. Being strong and resilient is the most important thing.

5 Seductive Beauty Tricks

5 Seductive Beauty Tricks

1) Blue Eye Makeup

Use blue eye makeup to amp up your bedroom eyes.Break out of a black-and-gray eye makeup rut by swapping in a navy eye shadow for a more subtle and sophisticated smoky eye. Apply color to both your lid and lower lash line, then gently blend.

2) Bright smile

Flash him your sexy and bright smile. That will stay in his mind. It really really works.
A killer smile is always a foolproof way to get his attention. To brighten up your teeth, try Crest 3D Whitestrips, and highlight the apples of your cheeks with a glowy cream blush, like Eva Mendes does

3) Use shimmer

Add some strategic shimmer to the chest
Not all of us are blessed with Halle Berry’s gorgeous bod, but we can steal her sparkly secret! Dust shimmer—not heavy glitter—on the top of your décolletage, in a capital T shape. For an even bigger boost, trace bronzer around the inside of each breast to enhance your cleavage—minus the push-up bra.

4) Kissable Lips

Make your lips extra kissable.A fire-engine red lip will definitely make him do a double take, but leaving your mark all over his face will likely remind him of his over-affectionate aunt—probably not the impression you were trying to leave.

5) Tats

Show off your edgy side with a temporary tattoo. If nothing else, a little ink is a conversation starter, and as Megan Fox demonstrates, guys like a girl who walks on the wild side. Relationships aren’t always permanent, so make sure his initials aren’t either!
